Abiodun Koya Clarifies Past Encounter With Ned Nwoko, Says One Date Led to Immediate “Turnoff”

Nigerian-born classical and operatic singer Abiodun Koya has shared details about a past encounter with billionaire businessman and politician Ned Nwoko. She made the disclosure during an interview on Outside The Box on The Podcast Network, aired Friday, November 14, 2025.

Addressing questions about public speculation linking her to Nwoko, particularly amid recent controversies involving him and his wife, actress Regina Daniels, Koya stated that she was never close to the businessman.

“I am not close to him. I just went on a date with him before he got together with Regina… maybe a year, a year and a half before that,” she said. “And I knew it wasn’t for me. One date and I was turned off.”

When asked why the interaction ended after a single outing, Koya said her decision was influenced by an incident she witnessed as he arrived to pick her up.

According to her, Nwoko parked a luxury car in a “no parking” zone at a major hotel in Abuja. “That was the offense for me,” she explained. “I was even thinking, so if I got together with you… what are you going to teach our sons? That was the turnoff.”
