Johnny Drille Explains Why He Does Not Do Online Giveaways

Popular Nigerian singer and songwriter Johnny Drille has responded to questions about why he has not joined the trend of celebrities giving out money on social media.
The conversation started after a fan identified as Temitope Legit teased him online, saying he was the only celebrity who had not participated in the “giveaway” culture. “Na only you never press money,” the fan wrote.
In his response, the Mavin Records artist explained that his priority is his family. “We plenty for my family, make I press for them finish first,” Drille replied.
The singer, born John Ighodaro, is known for his soulful sound and unique storytelling, which stand out in Nigeria’s Afrobeats-dominated music scene. Since signing with Mavin Records in 2017, he has built a loyal fanbase with hit tracks such as Romeo and Juliet, Count on You, and his debut album Before We Fall Asleep.
His refusal to jump on the giveaway trend has sparked conversations online, with many fans noting that Drille has always been open about his humble lifestyle and focus on personal values over industry pressures.
By prioritizing his family, the artist reinforced his reputation for authenticity both on and off the stage.
