Rivers Assembly Speaker, 27 Lawmakers Join PDP Campaign Flag-Off for LG Polls
The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule, and 27 Assembly members on 13 August 2025 attended the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign flag-off for the 30 August Local Government Elections.
The event, held at Isaac Boro Park, Port Harcourt, drew party leaders, candidates, stakeholders, and supporters from all 23 Local Government Areas of the state.
In his address, Amaewhule reiterated the PDP’s commitment to securing victory in the forthcoming polls, describing the party as having “a proven record of delivering people-oriented governance” in Rivers State. He urged members to intensify grassroots mobilization ahead of the elections.
The flag-off featured the presentation of the party’s chairmanship and councillorship candidates, musical performances, solidarity messages, and the symbolic hoisting of the PDP flag to mark the commencement of campaigns.
The Rivers PDP leadership expressed confidence in retaining control at the grassroots level in the upcoming elections.
