FG to Roll Out Cash Transfers and Loans for Vulnerable Nigerians Starting February 2025
The Federal Government of Nigeria has provided an update on its N6 billion initiative designed to support vulnerable Nigerians, focusing on cash transfers and loans for displaced households and farmers. The breakdown of beneficiaries and funding details are as follows:
1. Cash Transfer Program
- Total Approved: N4 billion
- Targeted Households: 10 million displaced households
- Objective: Provide support to vulnerable families, particularly in the Northeast
- Program Duration: February to April 2025
- Special Focus: Women, including widows, pregnant women, and those with disabilities
2. Interest-Free Loans for Farmers
- Total Approved: N2 billion
- Loan Amount per Household: N300,000 to N400,000
- Targeted Farmers: Farmers in rural communities
- Goal: Enhance food production and promote self-sufficiency
This initiative aims to provide urgent relief and long-term support for vulnerable groups, particularly women and families affected by crises and natural disasters. The Ministry’s strategy combines efforts from humanitarian, developmental, and peacebuilding platforms, aiming for sustainable solutions and long-term resilience.
