NAFDAC Exposes Large-Scale Fake Rice Production in Nasarawa
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has seized 1,600 bags of counterfeit rice valued at ₦5 billion in Nasarawa State.
In a major operation, NAFDAC shut down eight rice shops and a warehouse in Karu Local Government Area. The operation also led to additional raids in Wuse and Garki markets in Abuja.
NAFDAC officials found that the counterfeit rice was being repackaged in branded bags of popular rice brands such as Big Bull, Royal Stallion, and Tomato Aposo. The raids followed directives from NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye.
