BREAKING: 5 Killed in Tragic Crash on Abuja-Lokoja Highway
A tragic motor accident claimed the lives of five people early Thursday near the Asio Filling Station in Abaji, along the Abuja-Lokoja highway.
According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred at about 6:20 a.m. and involved a J5 Peugeot van with registration number EKY 506 YL and a trailer without visible plates. The van’s driver reportedly lost control due to excessive speed, resulting in a collision with the trailer.
Five individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, while one survivor sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the Abaji General Hospital for treatment.
An official from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who was part of the rescue operation, confirmed the crash. The official attributed the accident to driver fatigue, speeding, and loss of control.
The deceased have been taken to the Abaji General Hospital mortuary, while the injured victim is receiving medical care at the same facility.
