Key Details To Know As President Tinubu Set to Present 2025 Budget on December 17
President Bola Tinubu is set to present the 2025 national budget to the National Assembly on Tuesday, December 17. This announcement was made by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during a plenary session on Thursday.
Highlighting the details of the planned presentation, Akpabio explained that the event will occur in the House of Representatives Chamber. “The president has made his intention known to the National Assembly to present the 2025 budget to the joint Assembly of the National Assembly on the 17th of December, 2024,” Akpabio stated.
In preparation, senators will first gather in the Red Chamber at 10:30 am for preliminary discussions. They will then proceed in a formal procession to the House of Representatives Chamber for the budget presentation.
This development follows Tinubu’s submission of the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper (MTEF/FSP) for 2025–2027 last month. The document outlines key fiscal strategies and was forwarded to the Senate Committee on Finance, National Planning, and Economic Affairs, which was tasked with reviewing and providing feedback within a week.
The MTEF/FSP provides the framework for the upcoming budget, emphasizing efficient fiscal management. This marks a crucial step in setting Nigeria’s economic priorities for the coming year.
