JUST IN: President Tinubu Appoints Mr. Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as Acting Accountant General of the Federation
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Mr. Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the Acting Accountant-General of the Federation. Ogunjimi, a seasoned financial expert and certified fraud examiner, will temporarily fill the role following the pre-retirement leave of Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, whose official retirement is scheduled for March 7, 2025.
The announcement was made by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, who stated that Ogunjimi’s appointment takes immediate effect.
With over 30 years of extensive experience in financial management across both public and private sectors, Ogunjimi has held prominent roles such as Director of Funds at the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) and Director of Finance and Accounts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A chartered accountant, certified fraud examiner, chartered stockbroker, and chartered security and investment specialist, Ogunjimi holds a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and a Master’s degree in Finance and Accounting.
President Tinubu praised the outgoing AGF, Dr. Madein, for her dedicated and selfless service, and expressed confidence in Ogunjimi’s expertise and leadership to ensure the continued effectiveness of the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation.
