Opeyemi Bamidele: Tinubu Sleeps Peacefully Because Akpabio is Senate President
Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele has attributed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s peace of mind to the trust and leadership provided by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Bamidele made these remarks during a visit to Akpabio’s residence in Abuja on Monday, where senators, political associates, and staff gathered to celebrate Akpabio’s 62nd birthday.
According to Bamidele, Akpabio’s effective leadership as Senate President reassures Tinubu of a stable and supportive legislative body.
“I know one of the reasons he [Tinubu] is able to sleep well is because he has you [Akpabio] as the President of the Senate. He trusts you, depends on you, and takes your words seriously,” Bamidele said.
The informal event was attended by key figures, including the National Assembly’s management team, led by Clerk Kamoru Ogunlana, Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, and former Edo State Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole, a former Edo State Governor, also commended Akpabio’s leadership. He highlighted Akpabio’s ability to foster unity among senators regardless of party affiliation, encouraging open debate and consensus-building in the national interest.
In response, Akpabio expressed gratitude for the warm wishes and reiterated his commitment to serving the Senate and the nation effectively.
