Tinubu Warns G20 Leaders: Ignoring Africa’s Challenges Poses a Threat to Global Stability

At the G20 Summit in Brazil, President Bola Tinubu urged world leaders to address the economic challenges faced by Nigeria and other African nations, warning that neglecting the continent poses a significant threat to humanity.
In a video shared by his Media Centre, Tinubu called for action to back promises of support, emphasizing the need to end hunger and poverty in Africa through a collaborative global economic alliance.
Highlighting Nigeria’s struggles, Tinubu noted that funding small-scale industries and providing reliable power for industrialization remain pressing challenges. He underscored the urgency of investing in the education and empowerment of Nigeria’s youthful population, 70% of whom are under 30.
“The fight against hunger and poverty is not a choice but a priority for me,” Tinubu stated, calling for inclusive economic strategies that consider population growth and development needs.
He also reaffirmed his support for the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, which he endorsed earlier during the summit.
This plea comes against the backdrop of stark statistics from Nigeria’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), which in 2022 revealed that 63% of Nigerians live in multidimensional poverty.
The G20 meeting provided a platform for Tinubu to advocate for increased global investment in Africa, aiming to uplift the continent’s economies and address systemic challenges.
