Breaking: Indian Prime Minister Modi Arrives in Nigeria, Welcomed by FCT Minister Wike
The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, has arrived in Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria, marking a significant moment in bilateral relations. The Indian leader was welcomed by Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister, as part of the ceremonial reception.
This state visit is particularly noteworthy as it is the first by an Indian prime minister to Nigeria in nearly two decades. Prime Minister Modi’s arrival underscores a renewed commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.
According to a statement from presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the visit will feature bilateral talks between President Bola Tinubu and Prime Minister Modi, scheduled to take place on Sunday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The leaders are set to explore key areas of mutual interest, such as trade, investment, technology, and cultural exchanges.
“Both leaders will exchange signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) to enhance collaboration in critical sectors,” the statement highlighted, indicating a tangible step toward deepening partnerships and fostering long-term cooperation.
This historic meeting is expected to set the stage for future engagements, facilitating stronger economic growth, technological advancements, and enriched cultural connections between Nigeria and India.
