Rivers: Why Did Peter Odili Walk Out and Refuse to Sign the Peace Pact? — Jerry Omotshegunwa

Jerry Omotshegunwa, the Special Adviser on Electronic Media to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, recently spoke about the ongoing political tensions between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, despite attempts to reach a peaceful resolution.

In a live broadcast on News Central TV, Jerry mentioned that a peace agreement was facilitated with the involvement of President Bola Tinubu to resolve the disputes between the two factions. He noted that former Rivers State Governor Peter Odili, who read the terms of the peace pact, chose not to sign it because he disagreed with its conditions.Jerry explained that Governor Fubara signed the agreement in the hopes of fostering peace, but shortly after, Wike’s supporters were the first to breach the terms.

He questioned why Peter Odili, who presented the statement, ultimately walked away without signing it, suggesting it was an act of intimidation. He pointed out that Governor Fubara agreed to the terms for the sake of peace, and raised concerns about why Wike’s camp was allowed to violate the agreement without repercussions from the president.
