Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour Responds to Court’s Ruling Halting CBN Federal Allocations to Rivers State
The former Labour Party governorship candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has responded to a recent ruling by the Federal High Court in Abuja that halts the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from continuing to provide monthly financial allocations to the Rivers State Government.
On Wednesday, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik issued the order preventing the CBN from disbursing further funds to Rivers State. In his reaction, Rhodes-Vivour expressed on his verified Twitter account, “This APC government is fundamentally anti-people. They have subjected Nigerians to severe hardship, impoverished many, and have shown a blatant disregard for human rights while dismantling democratic institutions.”
He further questioned, “How can any reasonable group go to court to deny their citizens the funding that will cause immense suffering? At such a challenging time, how can these desperate politicians ignore that it’s ordinary people who will suffer the most from this decision?”He added, “It is disheartening to see our country controlled by a party whose interests take priority over the welfare of the state.
They are indifferent to the suffering caused, as long as their own ambitions are satisfied, regardless of the number of businesses that close or the increase in poverty, all in their quest to cling to power.”
