Renowned singer Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, shares his reflections on the Super Eagles’ 2-1 defeat to the host nation, Cote d’Ivoire, in the final of the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), played in Abidjan on Sunday.
“The Super Eagles really tried but the best team won,” Charly Boy expressed on X.
“Now, it’s time for us to confront the challenges ahead,” he added.
The match saw Nigeria taking the lead in the first half with a goal from William Troost-Ekong’s header. However, Cote d’Ivoire managed to equalize in the second half courtesy of Franck Kessie’s header. In the dying minutes of the game, Sebastien Haller secured the win for the hosts with a well-taken flick past goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.
