Nigerian Army apprehends suspected kidnapper, Salisu Dangani, following a gun battle in Ekiti.

The Nigerian Army’s special forces, dispatched by the Chief of Army Staff to enhance security in Ekiti State, have apprehended a suspected kidnapper operating in the Ikere/Igbara Odo area. The suspect, identified as Sanusi Dangani from Kano State, was captured within twelve hours of the special forces’ arrival in the state. He was presented to the press at the Fajuyi Pavilion in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, February 8, 2024. According to retired Brigadier General Ebenezer Ogundana, the Special Adviser to Governor Biodun Oyebanji on Security Matters, the arrest was made based on actionable intelligence. While briefing the press, Ogundana stated that five other suspects managed to evade capture during the exchange of gunfire and are currently being pursued by the Nigerian Army. He emphasized the state’s zero-tolerance policy towards criminal activities. The arrested suspect was found in possession of various weapons and items, including a dane gun, a double-barrel pistol, lighters, torches, bottles of alcoholic drinks, phones, a cutlass, and a knife.
