Supreme Court Affirms Fubara’s Election as Rivers Governor

On Thursday, the Supreme Court affirmed Siminalayi Fubara’s election as the Governor of Rivers State.
A five-member panel of the court in a unanimous decision dismissed the appeal filed by Tonye Cole and the All Progressives Congress as was unmeritorious. Fubara is of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Delivering the lead judgment, Justice Ibrahim Saulawa held that Cole and the APC failed to bring sufficient evidence to substantiate their claim that Fubara was not validly elected.
He resolved the four issues brought before the apex court the appellants.
