INEC Submitted BVAS Results from 36 States, Showing Peter Obi Won Presidential Election, Tribunal Hears
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed President Bola Tinubu’s eligibility for the president on Thursday by providing the Presidential Elections Petitions Court with his details.
The 36 state BVAS results, which showed Mr Peter Obi to be in the lead, were also provided by INEC.
The election arbitrator handed Form EC9, which contained the President’s biodata, in answer to the court’s demand made to INEC Chairman Yakubu Mahmoud.
The People’s Democratic Party and Atiku Abubakar, its presidential candidate in the election on February 25, are questioning INEC’s decision to back Tinubu’s candidacy. The All Progressives Congress nominated Tinubu for president.
The petitioners had previously told the court on Tuesday that Mahmoud had been summoned to appear in court today to submit the requested papers in support of their claim that Tinubu was not legitimately elected.
These records were required to back up the petitioners’ claim that Tinubu was chosen improperly.
LP and Atiku’s counsel, Chris Uche (SAN), informed the court at the continuation of the hearing on the matter that the INEC head had brought some of the documents specified in the subpoena through a commission deputy director, M.O.Tairu. Nigeria’s Senior Advocate is Chris Uche.
