PEPC has stepped down the hearing of Obi, LP Petition against Tinubu Due To Poor Documents Schedulin

The Presidential Election Appeal Court (PEPC) has temporarily halted the appeal challenging President Bola Tinubu’s election, which was filed by Peter Obi and the Labour Party.

Following a deficient submission of requested documents to substantiate allegations of malpractices during the presidential election on February 25, the appeal was dismissed by the tribunal on Thursday.

During the hearings, the court identified inconsistencies in the paperwork provided by the 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Benue State.

It was determined that the documents had not been arranged according to the court’s instructions during the rescheduled hearing.

Emeka Okpoko, the legal representative for Obi and the Labour Party, attempted to utilize undisclosed documents in the proceedings. However, the court deemed this unconstitutional and ruled against it.

Consequently, the petition hearing was postponed, and the court instructed the attorneys to resubmit the schedule of papers in compliance with the recommendations outlined in the pre-hearing report.

Notable party leaders, including Peter Obi and the vice presidential candidate Datti Baba Ahmed, were in attendance at the court during the trial.

For the time being, the five justices presiding over the case, led by Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani, have returned to their chambers.
