Fayose Affirms Friendship With Wike, Denies Involvement in Ekiti Government Contracts

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has reaffirmed his close friendship with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, stating that Wike would readily assist him if he ever made a request.

Speaking during the commissioning of the Igbara-Odo–Ikogosi Road in Ekiti State — part of events marking Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s third anniversary in office — Fayose addressed speculation about his alleged involvement in state contracts.

According to a report by the Daily Post on Monday, November 3, 2025, the former governor dismissed claims linking him to government projects, including the Ado-Ekiti flyover. “I’m not a contractor and I don’t get government contracts. I’m too old to be a contractor,” he said.

Fayose further emphasized his long-standing relationship with the FCT Minister, saying, “My friend Wike, if I want anything, won’t he give me? He is my friend. Ekiti has nothing anybody would take from here.”

He also declared his support for Governor Oyebanji’s second-term bid in the 2027 governorship election, assuring that he and his political followers would back the governor’s re-election effort.

Fayose’s statement signals a potential shift in Ekiti’s political alignments ahead of the next gubernatorial election.
